The Lancashire town of Blackpool, which lies on the Irish Sea coast north of Liverpool, has been associated with tourism since the nineteenth century and is still a thriving resort to this day.
In fact, the town is Britain's most popular seaside destination to this day, pulling in upwards of ten million visitors a year attracted by Blackpool's huge variety of amusements and iconic landmarks.
The most famous of these is perhaps the most potent symbol of the town - Blackpool Tower, which takes its inspiration from its larger counterpart in Paris, the Eiffel Tower. The tower dominates the town's famous seafront, with its long sandy beach, its Victorian piers, a large selection of hotels and a plethora of leisure opportunities.
Owing to its popularity in previous centuries, Blackpool is home to many stunning listed buildings giving it something of a timeless quality.
